Our Mission
A DISTINCT IDENTITY: EMPOWERMENT FOR RECOVERY & RESTORATION
Empowering Survivors of sexual abuse (or trafficking) who are living in foster group homes/residential safe homes to transition from tragedy to triumph. We provide the support system and infrastructure of wrap-around resources and services focused on mental, emotional, physical and spiritual healing. Program participants will go through the program to have coping skills to recover from trauma and have life skills to restore their lives for true self-mastery of independence with a holistic and faith based approach. We also train staff such as foster group homes for their CEU's or STRTPs (Short Term Residential Therapeutic Programs) on trauma informed care and holistic self-care.

A Bit About Us
FROM TRAGEDY TO TRIUMPH AND THE TEAM THAT BUILT THE DREAM
Joy’s G.I.F.T. is a 501c(3) non-profit organization based in Orange County with extended collaboratives nationally.
Founder, April Joy Ford is a survivor of childhood sexual abuse and became a widowed single parent at only 32 years old. She left her engineering career with Intel Corp to become a trauma expert to write, speak and teach on how to recover from trauma using a holistic and faith based approach. Her experiences and God given gifts is what makes her work priceless and matchless.

Our Vision for a Holistic & Faith Based Healing Retreat
Joy's G.I.F.T. will create the most advanced and sacred healing facility of the 21st century to accommodate healing using modern day amenities with integrative and holistic modalities.

Our healing retreat and spa is located in serene surroundings with lush green acreage and access to the ocean. This will include workshops, speakers, healthy organic gourmet meals, spa treatments, and various outdoor activities.
Our format is not only “for survivors by survivors” but will will also offer limited times of the year to accommodate the general public and VIP's who are seeking mind/body/soul connection and balance. The retreat environment will provide a setting away from the stressful daily living to be able to promote overall wellness and wellbeing.

Our main target population are survivors who are living in foster group homes, resident homes, and safe homes. Once a participant has graduated through all the 4 stages within the Breakthrough the Barriers Program, they can can be trained to work as an employee on-site in our ‘reach back and pay it forward’ model to help facilitate healing retreats for the new participants. We will also provide CEU training on trauma informed care and self-care for the caregivers/professionals who are in the field servicing the survivors; therapist, administrators, counselors, case workers, etc…The facility will focus on emotional trauma recovery integrating allopathic solutions with holistic modalities.
